Erie Canal

The historic 363-mile Erie Canal was completed in seven years. As traders and settlers moved westward, major cities were established along the waterway. (Utica, Rome, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo.) Today the Erie Canal is part of the 524- mile New York State Canal System.

The Erie Canal site marker is located on the Rome New London Rd. (Routes 46 and 49), a short distance from the waste weir and Erie Canal Village.

This Erie Canal marker is located on the Erie Blvd. Island and North James Street, in Rome, NY.
